A Song For a Gazillion Voices

    0:00

"I don't want to hear somebody try and tell you how I feel
They call us “angry” every time we disagree
I can tell you where it hurts I can tell you what's wrong
We're all grown up it’s been hard moving on"

Inspired by the launch of the new online magazine Gazillion Voices, I dedicate this song to all the adoptees out there that are speaking out, blogging, singing, dancing, writing, creating, sharing their stories in film and collecting research. A shout out to all the adoptees that attend conferences, setting up adoptees events, volunteering for organizations, volunteering at community activities, working at adoption agencies and heritage camps. We are all together a gazillion voices.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR VOICES

You are not alone, you are not invisible. <3

Invisible
By Jared Rehberg featuring Heather Park

How am I different?
Are we really all the same?
Have you walked in my shoes?
Have you ever felt my pain?

We can make things better
Less painful and fair
I acknowledge your pain
But I question if you care

I'm searching for my past
For my own identity
They said "what's best for the child"
Don't abandon me

I'm not invisible I'm right here
I'm not a child; you don't have to speak for me
I will be counted, you can count on me
I will be here, are you listening to me
To me…

I don't want to hear somebody try and tell you how I feel
They call us “angry” every time we disagree
I can tell you where it hurts I can tell you what's wrong
We're all grown up it’s been hard moving on

Don't try and compare me
Or tell me how to feel
It's not about you,
It’s about me

I turn on the TV and they talk about me
They talk about my future and how I might feel
Why don't they ask me I'm right here?

I'm not invisible I'm right here
I'm not a child; you don't have to speak for me
I will be counted, you can count on me
I will be here, are you listening to me
To me…

I'm grateful for your love and the support that you gave
Sometimes I lied when I told you “I'm ok”
Are we really angry?
Do they refuse to understand?
This is my perspective
The future is in my hands

I'm searching for my past
For my own identity
They said "what's best for the child"
Don't abandon me
